New combo aims to put CLL into deep remission and let patients stop treatment
NCT ID NCT06544785
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This phase 2 trial is testing two targeted drugs, zanubrutinib and obinutuzumab, in people with previously untreated chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) or small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL). The goal is to see if starting obinutuzumab at different times leads to deep remission where no cancer cells can be found. If that happens, patients may be able to stop treatment. About 106 adults will take part.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
zanubrutinib and obinutuzumab
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that a combination of two targeted drugs can achieve deep remission in CLL/SLL, allowing some patients to safely stop treatment.
What could go wrong
This is a phase 2 trial with only 106 participants, so results are preliminary. The best dosing schedule is unknown, and not all patients will achieve deep remission. Side effects from the drugs are possible.
