New drug combo takes on deadly brain tumor
NCT ID NCT05879250
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial tests whether adding the drug WP1066 to standard radiation therapy can help people with newly diagnosed glioblastoma, a fast-growing brain cancer. WP1066 targets a protein called STAT3 that helps tumors grow and hide from the immune system. The study will enroll 39 patients and measure how long the cancer stays under control and overall survival.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
WP1066 (a drug that blocks the STAT3 pathway to slow tumor growth and help the immune system attack cancer cells)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a new treatment option that extends survival for people with newly diagnosed glioblastoma.
What could go wrong
This is an early Phase II trial with only 39 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. The drug may not work as hoped or could cause side effects.
