Woodsmoke may weaken nasal defenses against flu, new study suggests

NCT ID NCT06841913

First seen May 02, 2026 · Last updated May 02, 2026

Summary

This study looks at how breathing in woodsmoke changes the way your nose's immune system reacts to the flu virus. Healthy adults aged 18-49 will be exposed to woodsmoke and then given a live but weakened flu vaccine to mimic infection. Researchers will measure immune markers and symptoms to see if woodsmoke makes it harder for the body to fight off the flu.
