Womb sounds tested to boost breathing in preterm infants

NCT ID NCT05298748

First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looks at whether playing womb-like sounds to preterm infants can help their brains mature and improve breathing control. Researchers will monitor heart rate, oxygen levels, and breathing pauses in 34 babies born at 29-33 weeks. The goal is to understand how sound affects the brain's breathing centers, not to provide a treatment.
