Vibration therapy shows promise for burn recovery in children

NCT ID NCT06116227

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested whether adding whole-body vibration training to standard physical therapy helps children aged 10-16 recover from severe burns on their legs and trunk. 60 children participated, half receiving vibration therapy plus exercise, and half receiving exercise alone. The goal was to see if vibration could improve balance and stability after burn injuries.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Whole-body vibration training on a platform (Power Plate) plus standard physical therapy

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a simple, drug-free way to help children with burn injuries regain balance and movement faster.

What could go wrong

This is a small, single-center trial with only 60 participants. Results may not apply to all burn patients, and the benefits may be modest.
