Summary

This study tested a 16-week home exercise program called SPIN for people with multiple sclerosis who use a wheelchair. Twenty-four participants were randomly assigned to either the exercise program or a wellness program. Researchers checked if the program was safe, doable, and liked by participants, and also looked for improvements in symptoms and metabolic health.

Active substance

wheelchair exercise-training program (SPIN)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a safe, home-based exercise option to help manage MS symptoms and improve health in wheelchair users.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early feasibility study with only 24 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The program requires motivation and may not benefit all users.
