Sewage sleuths: can nursing home wastewater predict superbug outbreaks?

NCT ID NCT07234331

Summary

This study aims to see if testing wastewater from nursing homes can help estimate how many residents are carrying antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Researchers will collect stool samples from 1,600 residents and test the facility's wastewater to build a predictive model. The goal is to create a new, less invasive way to monitor these dangerous germs and potentially help prevent outbreaks.
