Walking away from COPD symptoms: simple exercise may ease anxiety and breathlessness
NCT ID NCT07185659
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a 12-week program of walking and elastic band exercises can improve anxiety, depression, breathlessness, sleep, and quality of life in people with COPD. 68 participants will either do the exercise program plus standard care or just wear a smart bracelet to track steps and sleep. Researchers will measure changes using questionnaires and a six-minute walk test.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple, drug-free way to help COPD patients feel less anxious, breathe easier, and sleep better.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 68 participants. The results may not apply to all COPD patients, and improvements might be modest or not last long.
