Could virtual reality replace dummy arms for training nurses?

NCT ID NCT07673224

First seen Jun 29, 2026 · Last updated Jun 30, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study compares immersive virtual reality (VR) training with traditional part-task trainer simulation for teaching phlebotomy (blood draw) to nursing students. About 60 second-year students with no prior venipuncture experience are randomly assigned to either VR or standard training. Researchers measure self-efficacy, anxiety, and clinical performance before, right after, and at a follow-up session to see which method works better.
