Can a simple vitamin pill protect hearts during major surgery?
NCT ID NCT07348328
Summary
This study is testing whether taking a daily vitamin B supplement before and after major heart surgery can help prevent serious complications like heart attacks, strokes, or death. Researchers will enroll 1,000 patients scheduled for procedures like bypass or valve surgery and randomly give them either the vitamin pills or placebo pills for six months. The goal is to see if this simple, low-cost addition to standard care can improve recovery and reduce major heart problems.
