Could a VR headset replace pills for surgery anxiety?
NCT ID NCT03685422
First seen Aug 07, 2026 ยท Last updated Aug 07, 2026
Summary
This trial tests whether using virtual reality (VR) relaxation before and after gynecologic surgery can reduce anxiety and pain. About 220 women undergoing day or inpatient gynecologic procedures will either use a VR headset with calming scenes or receive standard care. Researchers will compare pain scores, quality of recovery, and painkiller use between the groups to see if VR offers a soothing distraction that improves the surgical experience.
