Virtual reality headsets could ease breathing during workouts

NCT ID NCT07498816

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This small study tests whether using immersive virtual reality (IVR) can reduce the effort it takes to breathe while exercising. Ten healthy adults will cycle with and without a VR headset, and their breathing effort will be measured with a thin tube in the esophagus. The goal is to see if VR can be a non-drug way to help people breathe easier, which could later be studied in people with lung or heart conditions.
