Virtual reality may replace needles for dental fear?

NCT ID NCT07760987

First seen Aug 12, 2026 · Last updated Aug 13, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This trial tests whether wearing a virtual reality headset that shows a calming nature video can reduce anxiety, pain, and stress during a periodontal frenectomy, a minor gum surgery. Adults aged 18 to 65 who need this procedure will be randomly assigned to receive either standard care or standard care plus virtual reality distraction. Researchers will measure pain, anxiety, blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen levels during the surgery, and track pain and healing for a week afterward.
