VA tests new program to empower veterans facing kidney failure
NCT ID NCT04064086
Summary
This study is testing whether a comprehensive education program helps veterans with advanced kidney disease understand their condition and treatment options better. It compares this special education to usual care to see if it leads to more informed choices about dialysis, particularly increasing the use of home-based dialysis. The goal is to improve veterans' knowledge, confidence in decision-making, and their long-term health outcomes after starting dialysis.
