C-Section drug study targets bleeding risk in diabetic moms

NCT ID NCT06285396

First seen Apr 18, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study looks at how three common blood pressure drugs (ephedrine, phenylepinephrine, and norepinephrine) affect the ability of the uterus to contract after a C-section in women with type 2 or gestational diabetes. Researchers will take small samples of uterine tissue during the surgery and test the drugs in the lab. The goal is to understand why diabetic women have a higher risk of severe bleeding after delivery and how to choose safer medications.
