Shocking burn pain away: new device may ease dressing ordeal

NCT ID NCT07566910

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 08, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether a non-invasive device that stimulates the vagus nerve can reduce pain and anxiety and improve quality of life for burn patients during dressing changes. About 96 adults with second-degree burns will be randomly assigned to receive the stimulation before or during dressing, or standard care only. The goal is to see if this simple, drug-free approach makes the painful dressing process more tolerable.
