First seen Mar 31, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tests whether using a device that stimulates the vagus nerve, along with nicotine replacement therapy (like patches or gum), can help people stop smoking. About 150 adults who smoke at least 10 cigarettes a day and want to quit will receive the nerve stimulation plus standard nicotine therapy for 12 weeks. The main goal is to see if this combination increases the number of people who successfully quit, confirmed by a breath test.
