Pee test could replace needle biopsy for kidney cancer

NCT ID NCT04053855

First seen May 12, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study is developing a new, non-invasive urine test to detect clear cell kidney cancer. Instead of a painful and expensive biopsy, doctors would look for tiny particles called exosomes in the urine that are released by cancer cells. The goal is to catch the cancer earlier and make diagnosis easier for patients. The study will compare urine samples from 100 people with and without kidney cancer.
