First seen Feb 20, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study looked at 86 boys who had surgery for a common birth defect where the urine opening is on the underside of the penis (distal hypospadias). The goal was to find the best method and length of time to divert urine after surgery to prevent complications like fistulas. Researchers compared using a tube in the urethra alone versus adding a tube through the belly, and also compared one week versus two weeks of diversion.
