Simple urine test may spot bladder trouble in children
NCT ID NCT07513363
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether three proteins in urine—RhoA, NGF, and BDNF—can help doctors diagnose and monitor overactive bladder in children aged 4 to 18 who also have low vitamin D. Researchers will measure these proteins before and after standard behavioral therapy (urotherapy). The goal is to find a non-invasive way to track the condition without needing catheters or scans.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a simple urine test to help diagnose and track overactive bladder in children, reducing the need for invasive procedures.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage observational study (52 children) that only measures biomarkers. It does not test a new treatment, so even positive results may not change clinical practice immediately.
