Does the amount of arm lost change how the body copes?
NCT ID NCT07677969
First seen Jul 01, 2026 · Last updated Jul 01, 2026
Summary
This observational study looks at how the percentage of arm loss in people with a single upper-limb amputation relates to balance, neck and back pain, daily activities, and reaction time. Participants aged 18 to 65 who use a myoelectric or bionic prosthesis will undergo non-invasive tests like posture analysis and reaction-time tasks. The goal is to better understand functional changes and guide future rehabilitation strategies.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could improve rehabilitation plans for people with upper limb amputation by clarifying how the extent of limb loss affects daily function and pain.
What could go wrong
This is a small observational study with only 15 participants, so findings may not apply to everyone. It measures associations, not causes, and does not test any treatment.
