New study tests rinvoq for psoriatic arthritis spine pain
NCT ID NCT06454188
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether upadacitinib (Rinvoq), a daily pill, can reduce inflammation in the spine and joints of people with active psoriatic arthritis. About 100 adults who have not responded well to other treatments will receive either the drug or a placebo for 12 weeks. Researchers will use MRI scans and symptom scores to measure changes.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- upadacitinib (Rinvoq)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could show that upadacitinib effectively reduces spinal and joint inflammation in people with psoriatic arthritis, offering a new treatment option.
- What could go wrong
- This is a phase 4 trial with only 100 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Upadacitinib can have side effects like infections, and the placebo group may also show improvement.
