Scientists probe why trauma patients struggle with infections
NCT ID NCT05616130
Summary
This study aims to understand what happens to the immune system after severe injuries like car crashes or falls. Researchers will collect blood and bone marrow samples from 255 trauma patients and compare them to people having routine hip surgery. They want to learn why some injured patients develop serious infections and prolonged recovery, hoping this knowledge could lead to better treatments in the future.
