Ultrasound may spot hidden blood loss after C-Section days before blood tests

NCT ID NCT06963047

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether using ultrasound after a cesarean section can detect anemia from blood loss earlier than standard blood tests. About 276 women who had a C-section will be randomly assigned to receive either an ultrasound or usual care. The goal is to see if ultrasound can identify a significant drop in hemoglobin within 24 hours, potentially allowing faster treatment and better recovery.
