Reiki after C-Section: a new way to boost recovery and mood?
NCT ID NCT07654881
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study will test whether Reiki therapy, a gentle hands-on energy technique, can improve recovery, comfort, and mood in women who have had a cesarean section. Eighty new mothers will receive three Reiki sessions on days 1, 2, and 7 after birth, in addition to standard care. Researchers will measure healing, comfort, and emotional well-being to see if Reiki offers any extra benefit.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Reiki therapy
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a simple, side-effect-free way to help mothers feel better and recover more comfortably after a C-section.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage study with only 80 participants. Reiki's effects are hard to measure, and any benefits may be due to relaxation or placebo rather than the therapy itself.
