Sound waves could replace X-Rays for bone healing checks
NCT ID NCT07505433
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether ultrasound can accurately check if bones are healing properly after Ilizarov surgery, a procedure that uses a metal frame to fix or lengthen bones. Researchers will compare ultrasound results with standard X-rays and physical exams in 56 patients. If successful, ultrasound could offer a safe, radiation-free way to decide when to remove the frame.
