First seen May 09, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study aims to discover new biological factors that lead to type 2 diabetes in people with severe obesity. Researchers will collect tissue samples during planned weight-loss surgery from 270 adults with different metabolic states—some with diabetes, some with insulin resistance, and some with normal insulin sensitivity. By comparing these samples, they hope to identify new markers and pathways involved in the disease.
