Ankle zaps may curb bladder leaks in kids with spina bifida

NCT ID NCT06025734

First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study tests a treatment called transcutaneous tibial nerve stimulation (TTNS) for children with spina bifida who leak urine despite using catheters. TTNS uses mild electrical pulses at the ankle to stimulate a nerve that helps control the bladder. Twelve children aged 8-18 will receive 6 weekly treatments at home after learning the technique in the clinic. The goal is to see if TTNS reduces the number of leakage episodes and improves quality of life.
