Electric fields plus targeted radiation may boost survival in recurrent glioblastoma
NCT ID NCT07668869
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is for adults with recurrent glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer. It tests whether adding a precise type of radiation (stereotactic radiosurgery guided by a special PET scan) to a device that delivers electric fields to the brain (TTFields) helps people live longer compared to using the device alone. About 92 participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two groups.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields) device and stereotactic radiosurgery
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this combination could offer a new, more effective treatment option for people with recurrent glioblastoma, potentially extending survival.
- What could go wrong
- This is a relatively small, early-phase trial. The added radiosurgery may not improve outcomes and could increase side effects. Results may not apply to all patients.
