NCT ID NCT04553770
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This phase II trial is testing whether a targeted drug called trastuzumab deruxtecan (Enhertu), given alone or with anastrozole (Arimidex), can eliminate HER2-low, hormone receptor positive breast cancer before surgery. The study will enroll 88 people with early-stage breast cancer. The main goal is to see how many patients have no cancer left at the time of surgery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Trastuzumab deruxtecan (Enhertu) and anastrozole (Arimidex)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could provide a new treatment option for people with HER2-low, hormone receptor positive breast cancer, potentially improving the chance of eliminating cancer before surgery.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early phase II trial with only 88 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The combination may cause side effects, and it is not yet known if it will be better than current standard treatments.
