Experimental combo therapy targets Hard-to-Treat HER2+ cancers
NCT ID NCT06027983
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This early-stage trial tests whether combining trastuzumab (a targeted antibody) with specially engineered immune cells (CAR T-cells) can safely control HER2-positive advanced breast cancer and other solid tumors. About 36 adults will receive the combination after a short chemotherapy course to prepare their immune system. The main goals are to check safety and see how long the cancer stays under control.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
trastuzumab and chimeric receptor T-cells (CAR T-cells)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a new treatment option for people with HER2-positive cancers that have stopped responding to standard therapies.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase trial with only 36 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. CAR T-cell therapy can cause serious side effects like cytokine release syndrome.
