NCT ID NCT07370129
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a numbing medicine (lidocaine) applied to a nerve cluster in the nose can reduce pain after tonsillectomy. Twenty-eight patients will receive either lidocaine or a placebo before surgery. Researchers will track pain levels, painkiller use, and recovery for 14 days after the operation.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
lidocaine
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple way to ease pain after tonsillectomy and reduce the need for strong painkillers.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early-stage trial with only 28 participants. The results may not apply to everyone, and the block might not work better than placebo.
