Could TMS replace ECT for Long-Term depression care?
NCT ID NCT06682299
First seen May 24, 2026 ยท Last updated May 24, 2026
Summary
This study explored whether people with treatment-resistant depression who achieved remission with electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) could switch to transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to stay well. TMS is easier to tolerate, has fewer cognitive side effects, and doesn't require anesthesia or a ride home. Only one person enrolled before the study ended, so results are very limited.
