Could sound waves boost brain health in Alzheimer's?

NCT ID NCT07143734

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study tests a non-invasive device that sends low-energy pulses to the brain, aiming to improve thinking and behavior in people with early Alzheimer's. Forty adults aged 60-90 will receive either real or sham (fake) pulses over several weeks. Researchers will measure changes in memory, mood, and daily function to see if the treatment is safe and helpful.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

transcranial pulse stimulation (TPS) device

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a non-invasive, drug-free way to slow cognitive decline and reduce neuropsychiatric symptoms in early Alzheimer's disease.

What could go wrong

This is a very small pilot study (40 people) testing a new device approach. The effect may be small or no better than placebo, and long-term benefits or risks are unknown.
