Could a simple eye drop stop repeat retina surgeries?

NCT ID NCT06033703

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study tests whether a topical eye drop called netarsudil can prevent the formation of harmful scar tissue (proliferative vitreoretinopathy) after retinal detachment repair. About 48 adults undergoing surgery for a detached retina will receive the drops before and after their operation. The main goals are to measure how much drug reaches the back of the eye and to check for side effects, while also looking for early signs that it reduces the need for additional surgeries.
