Potassium levels in tissues measured by MRI in hormone disorder study

NCT ID NCT04251780

First seen Dec 12, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study looked at whether potassium levels in body tissues change after treatment for primary hyperaldosteronism, a condition where the body makes too much of the hormone aldosterone. Researchers used a special MRI technique to measure potassium in 21 patients before and after treatment, and compared them to healthy people. The goal was to understand how the body stores potassium in this condition, not to test a new treatment.
