New blood marker may help track ankylosing spondylitis activity

NCT ID NCT07383805

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study will check if a protein called Tim-3 on certain white blood cells (neutrophils) is linked to disease activity in people with ankylosing spondylitis. Researchers will measure Tim-3 levels and compare them with inflammation markers and MRI scans of the hip and sacroiliac joints. The goal is to see if Tim-3 could be a useful indicator for monitoring the disease.

If successful, this could lead to a new blood test to better monitor disease activity in ankylosing spondylitis patients.
What could go wrong
This is an early observational study, not a treatment trial. It may not find a clear link, and results may not change current care.
