Summary
This study examines whether patients who have a thyroid nodule found on a PET scan can safely skip a follow-up ultrasound without affecting their survival. Researchers will compare death rates over 7 years between those who had an ultrasound within 3 months and those who did not. The study uses medical records from 5,000 adults in the Mass General Brigham health system. If skipping ultrasound proves non-inferior, it could reduce unnecessary procedures and patient anxiety.
