New genetic test aims to reduce unnecessary thyroid surgeries

Summary
This study looks at whether a genetic test called Thyroid GuidePx® can help doctors and patients with papillary thyroid cancer make better treatment choices. About 85 adults with small thyroid tumors and no signs of spread will take the test before surgery. Researchers will see if the test results change the planned treatment, such as avoiding or adjusting surgery.
