Can a simple standing test predict aneurysm risk?

NCT ID NCT05703893

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This observational study examines how the nervous system works in 139 adults with thoracic aortic aneurysms (a bulge in the chest's main artery). Participants lie down and then stand while their blood pressure and breathing are monitored non-invasively. The goal is to see if nerve function patterns can help predict who is at higher risk for serious complications.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this study could help doctors better identify which patients with thoracic aortic aneurysms are at higher risk for complications.

What could go wrong

This is an early observational study, not a treatment trial. It may not lead to any changes in patient care or risk prediction.
