Simple texts aim to bridge critical gap in mental health care for youth
NCT ID NCT04298450
Summary
This study tested if sending supportive text messages could help young people with psychosis get from the emergency room to their first follow-up appointment. Researchers enrolled 186 young adults (ages 16-29) to see if reminders and check-ins via text improved attendance at that crucial first visit. The goal was to use a simple, youth-friendly tool to help people start treatment sooner, which could lead to better long-term health.
