Could a hormone gel help women in pain use fewer opioids?

NCT ID NCT04895306

Summary

This study is testing whether a testosterone gel can help reduce pain and improve daily life for women over 60 who have chronic back pain and are using opioid painkillers. Researchers will compare the gel to a placebo (inactive substance) over three months to see if it helps with pain tolerance, physical function, and quality of life. The goal is to find a new option to help manage chronic pain, potentially reducing reliance on opioids.
