Can a clot-busting procedure help stroke patients with prior disabilities?

NCT ID NCT05911568

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether removing a large blood clot from the brain (endovascular thrombectomy) is better than standard medical care for stroke patients who already had a moderate-to-severe disability before their stroke. About 1,060 adults with a recent stroke and a pre-existing disability will be randomly assigned to either get the clot removal procedure or not. The goal is to see which approach leads to better recovery or survival.
