Zapping the brain to steady Parkinson's tremors and steps

NCT ID NCT07384442

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a non-invasive brain stimulation technique called temporal interference stimulation can improve tremor and walking difficulties in people with Parkinson's disease. Fifty participants will be randomly assigned to receive either real or sham stimulation daily for 19 days. Researchers will measure changes in tremor intensity and gait quality using specialized devices.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

temporal interference stimulation (a non-invasive brain stimulation device)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a new, non-drug way to reduce tremor and improve walking in people with Parkinson's disease.

What could go wrong

This is an early-stage trial with only 50 people, so results may not apply to everyone. The stimulation is non-invasive, but it may not work better than a sham (placebo) treatment.
