Summary

This study tests whether virtual reality (VR) sessions can improve mood, reduce loneliness, and boost quality of life for caregivers and homebound older adults. 180 participants will be randomly assigned to VR, video, or usual care for 4 weeks. Researchers will measure changes in depression, anxiety, loneliness, and happiness right after and 3 months later.

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a simple, tech-based way to reduce stress and loneliness for caregivers and homebound older adults.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage trial with only 180 participants. The VR effect may be no better than watching videos, and results may not apply to everyone.
