Could a gentle brain zap speed up concussion recovery in kids?

NCT ID NCT05762796

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a gentle brain stimulation technique called tDCS can improve motor and thinking skills in children aged 10-15 who have had a mild concussion. Ten participants will receive tDCS and be evaluated with balance, coordination, and brain imaging tests. The goal is to see if this safe, non-invasive method can help restore communication between brain areas affected by injury.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a safe, non-drug way to help children recover from concussion symptoms like balance and thinking problems.

What could go wrong

This is a very small early study (10 participants) testing a device, not a drug. It may not show clear benefits, and results may not apply to all children with concussion.
