Gene study reveals clues to ICU blood sugar problems
NCT ID NCT03055169
First seen Jun 07, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looked at whether certain gene variations (in the TCF7L2 gene) are linked to high blood sugar in intensive care patients with organ failure. Researchers studied nearly 1,000 adults in the ICU to see if these genetic differences made it harder to control blood sugar. The goal was to better understand why some patients develop high blood sugar during critical illness.
