Could TB treatment be cut from 6 months to 8 weeks? major trial launches

NCT ID NCT06114628

First seen Nov 01, 2025

Summary

This study tests new drug combinations to treat pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) faster than the standard 24-week regimen. About 2500 adults with TB will receive one of several experimental combinations, including two new drugs (BTZ-043 and GSK3036656), for 8 to 16 weeks. Researchers aim to find a shorter, equally safe and effective treatment that could also work for drug-resistant TB.
