NCT ID NCT07495163

First seen Mar 31, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tests a non-invasive device that gently stimulates a nerve in the ear to see if it can reduce anxiety in people having major abdominal surgery. Over half of these patients experience anxiety, which can slow recovery. The trial will involve 282 adults who will receive either the real stimulation or a sham version for 60 minutes daily before and on the day of surgery. Researchers will track anxiety, pain, sleep, and recovery speed.
