Liver cancer battle: which combo therapy wins?
NCT ID NCT07340502
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares two treatment combinations for advanced liver cancer that cannot be removed by surgery. One group gets TACE (a procedure that blocks blood flow to the tumor and delivers chemo directly) plus immunotherapy and a targeted drug. The other group gets HAIC (a continuous chemo infusion through a catheter) plus the same drugs. The goal is to see which approach works better and is safer. About 364 adults with newly diagnosed liver cancer will take part.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- PD-1 inhibitors and lenvatinib
- What this could lead to
- If this study shows HAIC is better than TACE for certain patients, it could lead to more effective, personalized treatment for advanced liver cancer.
- What could go wrong
- This is an observational study, not a randomized trial, so results may be less definitive. It is also early-stage, and the treatments have known side effects like fatigue, liver damage, and bleeding risks.
